Malvern remain undefeated as they dominate Evesham in local derby, which sees Malvern get their 6th consecutive win of the league campaign.
A big shoutout to the motley crew who ensured that the 1st XV pitch was playable for today’s game, after the severe weather over the last couple of weeks.
As always, Malvern started off quickly. After some neat offloading, Joe Pritchard went over for the score.
Malvern doubled their lead soon after, as Rob Cook passed inside to Tom Hale who touched down under the posts. This was quickly followed by an Evesham penalty as they got their first points of the game.
Cook was provider once again as he broke the line and offloaded to Batty who bustled his way over the whitewash. The bonus point was then secured after Hale set off down the wing to grab a try.
Malvern’s Front Row Union were in full swing today, after a dominant scrum walked the ball over for Max Richardson to touch down for the score. Malvern’s scrummaging absolutely outperforming their opposition.
Two more tries came before halftime with Jack Longley and Joe Pritchard grabbing the points, with the halftime score at Malvern 49-3 Evesham.
It didn’t take long for Malvern to carry on their rampage. As Josh Herbert came straight off the bench to charge down a kick for Longley to scoop up the ball for his second try of the game.
The Front Row Union were at it again, as another commanding Malvern scrum walked the ball over the line for Jack Curtis to tap down.
With Malvern’s lead looking impregnable, Evesham started to come into the game, as they used their width to catch the home side out. 3 tries in quick succession left Malvern in shock, as the deficit was cut to 50 points.
Malvern continued relinquishing punishment at Evesham’s expense. After working up a good position in the visitor’s 22, the ball was then shipped out to Lewis Hardiman who stepped his opposite number to grab a try.
With Milton getting on the scoresheet and Hardiman securing a second, the game concluded with two Malvern tries.
Next up is Leamington away in the league, where Malvern hope to carry on their blistering start to their 2019/20 season.
Up The Vern!
