Spartans (Midlands) 7 - 73 Malvern
Malvern continue to dominate in the league with another convincing performance against Spartans (Midlands).
Once again Malvern started off quickly as Rob Cook’s looping pass found Jon Wills on the wing to grab a try.
Spartans battled hard but conceded a penalty for Dan Batty to slot the ball through the posts for 3.
The next try came from the Cook-Wills combination again, as Cook’s cross field quick found the reliable hands of Wills who scored his second of the game.
Malvern continued to kick on when a dominant driving maul sent Josh Herbert over the whitewash.
A yellow card was then given to Skipper Liam Roleston for a no-arm tackle on the opposition, making the game a little bit harder for Malvern.
This didn’t faze Malvern as they grabbed the bonus point try from Tom Hale as he broke several tackles to score under the posts.
Hale was heavily involved again as he battled through the gain line to set up Wills to secure his hat trick. At the break the score stood at Spartans 0 - 38 Malvern.
Malvern scored a beautifully constructed try after the break as several offloads led to Hale grabbing his second of the game.
Hale was causing all sorts of problems for the Spartans defence as he set up a 2 on 1 for Laurie Essenhigh to go over for the score.
Lewis Hardiman also managed to get on the scoresheet as he got on the end of a grubber kick to get his try. From the restart Spartans managed to pull one back after some poor defending by Malvern.
Malvern scored twice before the end with Dan Batty and Sam Parsons getting on the scoresheet.
Malvern continue their league campaign next week when they meet with 3rd place team Barkers Butts at Spring Lane. This will prove to be a tough game for Malvern as they attempt to carry on their unbeaten run.
Up The Vern!
