Malvern RFC
Southam RFC

MALVERN 81 - 5 SOUTHAM

Malvern continue their unbeaten start as they destroy a weak Southam side on a chilly, October Saturday afternoon.
It didn't take long for Malvern to take the lead as Laurie Essenhigh broke the line to create a 2-on-1 for Lewis Hardiman to grab a try.
Malvern scored soon after, as John Clark wrestled over for the score to put pressure on the visitors.
Hardiman was at it again as when another simple line-break allowed him to go over the whitewash.
The bonus point was then secured shortly after that. Dan Batty scoring an incredible individual try from kick-off, to put Malvern firmly in the driving seat for the rest of the game.
Malvern continued to run the score up before the break. Tries from Batty, Ieuan Mustow and Essenhigh with Hardiman grabbing his third and fourth try, as the half drew to a close with Malvern up 55-0.
After some agonising injuries preventing him from playing last season, this game also saw the return of Tom Hale. He marked his return with try, as he split the defence wide open to dive under the posts.
Despite the score line, Southam continued to put in maximum effort. Their perseverance payed off as they managed to grab a mere consolation after some forward brutality.
With 10 minutes left, Malvern secured three more scores with tries coming from Essenhigh, Nathan Gaiderman and Mustow.
Malvern return to the league competition in two weeks time against Spartans, but before that they look to kick on in their National Cup campaign as they play Leamington at home next Saturday.

Up The Vern!
